Orbium recruits new head for growing Agile practice

Orbium, a leading global financial services and technology consultancy, today announced that it has recruited John Okoro to head its Agile practice based in Singapore.

Agile is a work methodology adopted by organisations to give their staff the most flexibility on how, when and where they work to achieve maximum efficiency. John Okoro has more than 10 years’ experience of working in Agile in the US and Asia, including setting up the Agile services practice for Rally Software in Asia. He is also author of A Guide to Distributed Agile Framework and has been a university lecturer in Agile in both the US and Singapore.

His appointment comes at a time of great change across the financial services sector as fintechs continue to disrupt traditional business models and the sector digitises in response. The speed of change demands swift action from incumbents to develop and evolve into digital players themselves.

Many banks and other financial services providers have already established small Agile teams but need to scale these up across their organisations to meet the growing challenges. Orbium’s Agile practice supports clients by offering the training, coaching, leadership consulting and certification to enable digital delivery fast.

Manuel Anton, Partner at Orbium commented: “John’s Agile experience and knowledge is first class and we are delighted that he is joining us at such a critical time. He will expand Orbium’s Agile practice, help clients adapt to their brave new world and ensure our team is the best it can be.”

John Okoro remarked: “I am proud to be joining Orbium to lead its Agile practice. Many financial services companies have already established a small Agile team but are struggling to scale them up. Scaling up is our focus. We will help them move from just a handful of Agile workers to hundreds and then thousands as required.

John Okoro’s appointment follows Orbium becoming a Bronze Transformation Partner in the Scaled Agile Partner Network earlier this month. The network promotes adoption of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to help businesses deliver high-quality software and systems in the shortest sustainable lead time.

At the time of Orbium’s joining, Dean Leffingwell, creator of SAFe and co-founder of Scaled Agile, Inc., said: “Working with best-in-class partners like Orbium represents our commitment to helping software and systems-dependent enterprises improve time-to-market, quality and employee engagement. By incorporating SAFe into their solution offering, Orbium is enabling the world’s largest organisations to become more Agile in the marketplace and more competitive in their industry.”

Orbium also recently became a partner with the Business Agility Institution, an independent global body that develops Agile skills within organisations to help them remain relevant to their customers.

Evan Leybourn, founder of the Business Agility Institute explains: “Our new partnership with Orbium complements our mission to help companies innovate, improve productivity and remain relevant in our rapidly changing world.
